Today we started our fun day with a scavenger hunt. We looked for 25 poppers, 10 candy canes and 12 M&M packs hidden around Room 12. We put our treats in our goodie bag. Then we played musical chairs, Gwenavea was the winner! Our games morning finished up with Pin the tail on the donkey, with Sao placing his tail closet to donkey's tail. We have our daily Google Meet today at 10am. Check out our last task for this week...

TEAM WHANAKE DAILY CHALLENGE:

Mahi Ngatahi - We work as a team

List all the ways that you and your whanau work together when you are in a lockdown.

It was great to have Sarai, Cruize and Sao join our Room 12 Google Meet regulars Ethan, Siulai, Tauetera, Faiupu, Gwenavea and I on Thursday. The purpose of our online hui is to connect with one another and share our home learning with each other!

Sao, Gwenavea, Tauetera and Faiupu led our mihi whakatau. We all practised our Google Meet etiquette...putting ourselves on mute when we weren't talking, to reduce the backgroud noise. We also used the 'raise hand' option to let each other know when we wanted to talk.

During our hui we discussed what we are grateful for...

Check out Faiupu's daily gratitude notes too (see photo above) too! BE SAFE, STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES. He waka eke noa, we're all in this together!

Kia orana, Kia ora, Malo e lelei, Talofa lava, Namaste, Fakalofa lahi atu, Bula vinaka, Ni hao, An Yeoung ha se yo, Greetings whānau and friends…

We had a great Google Meet yesterday (see photo above), with Ma'imoa, Irae and Siulai joining us for the first time this week! We started off with our mihi whakatau led by Faiupu, Gwenavea and Tauetera. We enjoy speaking in Te Reo Maori through karakia timatanga, waiata and pepeha to start our learning day.

Then we talked about our 'Team Whanake Daily Challenge'. Together we brainstormed things in our homes that begin with the 26 letters of the alphabet. For example, apple for a, blanket for b, charger for c etc. Irae showed us her illustrations of things she has found at home starting with the letters of the alphabet. She also introduce us to her little sister and told how good a big sister she is and games she like to play with her sister too!

Ethan took us on a tour of his family home. We were particularly impressed by the trophies and medals display he has. His aiga are talented athletes who have won awards for waka ama, boxing and other sports. Siulai praised Ethan for being an adventure boy! Even though we couldn't see Siulai, we could hear and he was particularly good at chatting with us. I look forward to our 10am Google Meet today.

TEAM WHANAKE DAILY CHALLENGE:

Atawhai - We value others

Give thanks to someone who you would like to show appreciation for something/anything. Share  in written form such as a thank you letter/card.  Either share with someone in your bubble,  if they are not in your bubble you can email it or give it to them at a later stage.  Take a picture of your appreciation letter and share it with your teacher to put on the class website.

Continue to work on your daily challenge and your learning activities in your distance learning pack too! You can also check out some fitness challenges and other learning tasks here: Hauora

Tauetera was up early this morning, vacumming the floor ready for her morning workout with her mum. Thanks for your email and photos Tauetera!

Today I hosted our first Room 12 Google Meet at 10am. I sent you all an invite via your school email, or you can click here: Room 12 HuiThis will be held ech day this week!

It was great to connect with Gwenavea, Tauetera, Faiupu and Ethan online via Google Meet today. I was so happy to hear that you and your whanau/aiga are well in your respective bubbles.

Faiupu showed us a batman she made at home with lego (he was missing a head). She also took us for a tour of her family home. Her brothers Darryl and Tyler share a room while Faiupu has her own. We also meet her mum Rosita too.

Gwenavea showed us her favourite people art made from wood, that she viewed in an 'Outdoor Art' book she is reading. She also learnt how to change her background on Google Meet and is keen to teach others how to do this too. Lastly, Gwenavea showed us her favourite dark place to chill in at home aka her wardrobe.

Tauetera's big sister helped her join the Google Meet. She did star jumps as part of her workout this morning and has been working hard on her home learning tasks too!

Just as I was about to leave the Google Meet and let the girls continue to chat...Ethan joined us. We couldn't see him or hear him, he wrote via chat that his computer was broken then left the meeting and joined via his mums phone. YAY! We could now see and hear Ethan too. He showed us his fejoa tree from his window and told us how he eats the fejoa's with his hands. Doesn't everyone eat them that way? We look forward to having more of our Room 12 classmates join us tomorrow for our Wednesday Room 12 Google Meet.

A friendly reminder that Home Learning Packs can be picked up today: Tuesday 2/3/21 between 10am-1pm from our school library/CSI

Please wear your mask when you visit the school.

Check out our new learning activity for today:
