Prizegiving today.

It was a beautiful day, we got very hot. The sun was shining down on us and it was a great day to celebrate the successes of our Tamariki.

The most outstanding awards this year, for Room 13, went to

Sisilia and D'Mascuz.

Well done you two for your commitment to learning at school and continuing your learning through Lockdown.

I was lucky enough to be able to deliver the awards to those who couldn’t make it to school today. It was great to see the families together and smiling and happy to share in the achievements for 2021.

Izahbelle was outside with her family, waiting for me to arrive.

Begonia and her family were out cleaning the car together, I offered to bring my car over but they didn’t want it. LOL

Latu saw my car pull up and the boys all came out.

Thank you everyone for making 2021 so awesome even though we were in Lockdown we still managed to learn and be together. Thank you to our families for their support and their continued encouragement. Without you it wouldn’t have been possible.

You rock!!

Week Seven

Week seven already. Don't forget to pick up your learning packs today between 10:00am and 1:00pm, wear your mask, sign in at the gate. It would be great if someone in our class found the Golden Ticket.

Remember to work out the equation then work out if it is Greater Than, Less Than or Equal To.

Remember to show me how you work it out. We did some like this together last week.

Please look around your house and see if you can find any school readers on your bookshelves. Keep them together until you can come back to school.

Week 9

Book Week

Write a short summary of your favourite book. What is the title? Who wrote it? Who are the characters? Where is the setting? What is the problem? What is the solution? Why do you like it?

Book week

Find 5 books in your house. How many are Fiction? How many are Non Fiction? Have you read all of them? Which are your families favourites? Write down the titles and the Authors names.

Wellness Wednesday

Mr Avatea has said that everyone needs a break from all the digital devices. So get those books out, have a read, share with your Whānau. Go outside, get some fresh air, some Vitamin D, do some exercise. Get into the kitchen and create some tasty masterpieces with and for your Whānau, have some fun, make a mess, just remember to clean it up when you are finished. Spend some time together, not doing work but having fun, being together, relaxing, sharing a laugh.

Take the time to remember that even though we have had a not so great term that we are lucky enough to have each other, to be safe, to be with the people that we love, to spend time together that normally would be spent at school or at work.

Be a family.

Live, Laugh, Love and share together.

With love from my Whānau to yours. Take care.

Join us today for our special guest book reader. I wonder who it will be. See you at 1:00. Bring your favourite book to our Google meet and we can see if anyone has the same book.

You can listen to it here:

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZpqdACpnB0

Then we had a Book Week Kahoot! Thanks for joining us Miss Haynes.

The end of another week. The only thing that would have made it better would be if we were at school together. I hope you have had a great Book Week and have enjoyed listening to our special guests read their books to us. Our last guest will be joining us today. Make sure to come at 1:00pm to see who our guest is.

Week 7

What a fantastic start to our Tongan Language Week. Thank you to everyone who joined us.

Sisilia spent some time today making her siblings some toasted sandwiches for lunch. What a great big sister.

Today's Kahoot! was very close. Well done everyone.

Don't forget our Tongan Language week Kahoot with Mr Avatea. It will be great to see you all there at 12:00.

What a great Kahoot! that was. Thank you to those who joined us. Congratulations to Elisara for coming over all #1 with 6799 points. What a great effort everyone with your Tongan Knowledge.

Thank you Mrs Hira for remembering to get a photo. I was too excited and completely forgot.

Today's activities are as follows:

Kahoot! today. Well done Izahbelle for knowing your Whānau names. Mrs Tupou and Miss Browne played today. We managed to get in 4th and 5th place. Mrs Tupou has got a faster hand than me.

Made Egg Bread today or French Toast.

I use 4 or 5 eggs depending on the size. I always make too much egg for Savana and myself. I like to fry the leftover egg in the butter. There are no measurements just add how much you want. If you make it be careful of the hot frying pan and remember to clean up when you're finished. Enjoy.

Today's activities

It was great having the opportunity to listen to the Author Helen Griffiths today. Seeing her amazing book and having a little online game. Thank you to all those that came. If you get to read her book I am sure that you will really enjoy it. I know I did.

CRT: Thursday 2/9/21

Thanks Miss Browne for letting me join in on your google meet yesterday. It was awesome to see some of the lovely children in your class. I have posted a video of how we made father's day cards at our house. Maybe you could make a similar one or create your own. Remember you could make one for your Papa, uncle or brother instead if you want too. Don't forget to take a picture and send to your teacher.

The weather is going to be good over the next couple of days so this will be a good chance for you to get outside and have a run around. I have added a video of a game I used to play when I was young. All you need is a ball, a bat and your whanau. Hope you give it a go.

For breakfast on Sunday morning I am going to make my Dad some toasties. They are easy to make and they are yummy. Egg and cheese toasties are my Dad's favourite food. Can you make these too? You could also change the ingredients to put in what your Dad likes.

I miss you all and can't wait to see you all back at school Ms Young.

________________________________________________________

Today's Google meet we played Kahoot! It was fun but it was hard. Even Miss Browne didn't know some of the answers.

Here is something I saw on Facebook. See if you can give it a go at home. Don't forget to take a photo and share it with me.

Have a great day. See you on Wednesday. Don't forget to check the Website often.

Izahbelle has shared with us the 10 things that she is grateful for. Thank you for sharing Izahbelle.

Another picture I saw on Facebook. Have a go at making washing people in your house. Don't use the clean washing though. LOL. Use the dirty washing before you put it in the machine to help your Whānau. Don't forget to take a photo of any of your artwork and share it with your teacher.

We had another Google Meet today. So good to see your faces. Also Kahoot! is a blast. Look at those scores.

And while Miss Browne was on the Kahoot! screen we had the super awesome Miss Young join us. Thanks Miss Young.

Today we had the awesome Rush join us for our Google Meet. He shared a story with us about how Jesus has time for everyone no matter how big or small you are.

Thank you so much Rush.

Man those Kahoots are getting hard. I think I need to create some easier ones. Well Done Begonia for getting the highest score. Rush came in at 6th place. But he tried his best and that is all we can do. Well done Rush.

Excellence is being the best that I can be.

Week 5

Keep checking the Website for new activities to do.

Here is one that you could do at home with your whānau. When you have made your parent their cup of tea when doing something nice for a family member you can keep their tea bag and try this together.

You could plant your apple seeds or if you have a watermelon, tomatoes, pumpkin or any other fruit at home plant the seeds.

Here are today's activities:

Take care, Look after each other.

Next Google Meet will be Wednesday at 1pm - See you there.

Term 2

We have been having a great time catching up with our friends, finding out what everyone did in their holidays. We are ready to continue our learning Journey and can't wait to learn about the living world around us.

We are going to be looking at how plants grow and what they need to grow big. We will be looking at different animals and what they need to live. eg, food, habitat, safety.

We are having a trip in week 2 to The Botanical Gardens to look at plants and to plant our own seedlings. We can't wait.

Watch this space for all the photos that will be taken and shared during the term.

We are learning new Karakia for the start of our day and the end of our day. You can practice at home and see how good you can get.

Week Eight

This week we have been lucky enough to have some chickens come to live in the hen house up on our driveway. They are so cute. We get to all have a chance to name one as a team. I wonder what names we can come up with for this bossy little cutey.

Tuesday Mrs Browne came in to read us another Winnie the Pooh story. This one was where poor old Eeyore lost his tail. Do you know where they found it??? Ask the children to tell you what happened.

We also managed to do some artwork. We used pastels and rubbing techniques to make our portraits come to life. Come in and have a look when you get the chance. What a mess we made but that's ok, it's easily cleaned.

Week Seven

So much has been happening. It is so good to have everyone back in class.

Friday was our first day of Bible for the year. It is so good to listen to Rush and to know that we are all special and unique. Thanks Rush.

Wednesday 3 March

Today's activity is to find objects around your home beginning with the letters of the Alphabet. I went around the class today and found what I could. Check out the Class ABC.

Begonia was back on Google Meets today. We read a book together called Jeremy's Magic School Day.

Thursday 4 March

Begonia came back for Google Meets again today. I am so lucky to have you in our class Begonia. We talked about different things and she told me that she had done some of her homework from her Home Learning Pack. Such great news Begonia. Don't forget to send me some photos. Today she read me one of her books instead. It talked about Solar Energy and the things that use Solar and how it can help us. Thank you for reading to me Begonia.

We talked about how our families can help us and how we can help them. I was so grateful this week to have so much help at home from Savana. She has really been helpful between her University online classes.

Friday 5 March

Today I shared with Begonia some new books that I have bought for our class. I was going to read them and record them for you but I thought I will read them next week when all of your beautiful faces are back in our classroom. They are quite funny and I really want to see your faces and hear your laughter as I read them.

I have really missed seeing your faces this week. I was in class all week trying to prepare things for next week without knowing if we would even be back together. I am so glad that it will be possible for us to be together.

I have managed to take walks at the park with Mr Browne (my Dad) and my fur babies Eden and Akuma. I hope you have managed to do some fitness around your house and hopefully had some good old Vitamin D (Sun) it is so good for you.

I hope you all have a great weekend and I can't wait to see you all on Monday morning in Room 13.

We have started a Team Whanake morning get together where we do karakia, the School Pepeha, waiata and start our day together.

Tuesday we were lucky enough to go and visit Harold in the Life Ed truck. We looked at different emotions and how we can turn our frown upside down. Ask us what we need to do.

Wednesday we had Cricket again. We are getting so good at swinging that bat. Look at those balls go.

Karakia for kai so we could eat our delicious lunches. We are so lucky to be able to have free lunches at school. Healthy food and our fitness helps us to feed our brain.

Week Three

Mama Mia, Here we go again... My my, why can't Covid go away???

HHMMMM Did you sing that because I did.

But Seriously:

Please stay home. Stay safe. Be kind. Look after each other. Support each other.

Thank you to those you have got in touch with me by replying to my messages, answering phone calls or sending me emails. Still trying to get in touch with a few of you.

Week Two

Our first day with Miss Young and Mr Moiho. We were lucky enough to do some awesome singing, te reo, sports and art. Ask us about the things we learnt today.

Wednesday we had our first session of Cricket for Term 1. We had such a great time. Unfortunately the weather today wasn't that good so we had to learn in the hall. Hopefully next week it is fine so we can smack those balls across the field. We have some pretty great batters in Room 13.

Thursday we finally got a photo of us eating our awesome lunches. Thank you to those who have prepared, supplied and delivered our delicious healthy lunches.

These are our friends that have come back to join us this week. Just waiting on 2 lovelies to come back to school. We can't wait for everyone to be here.

On Friday we had a fabulous Whakatau for all our new friends and their whānau.

We are lucky enough to have a new school friend in Room 13.

Please say a big "Kia Ora" to Caprece if you see her around the school. Welcome to our school whānau.

What a week. Meeting new friends, getting to know our teacher, our routines and travelling on our learning journey. Next week begins our Buddy Reading with the AWESOME Room 5 on Mondays and Fridays and our first visit to the Library on Thursday. We can't wait.

Happy Valentine's Day to all our  Whānau and friends for Sunday.

Week One

We had many of our friends back at school this week. We can't wait for everyone else to come so we can get to know our new friends and continue our Learning Journey.

If you get the chance head on down to Otara Town Centre and check out the Fresh Gallery. What an amazing talent.

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday.

Have an amazing Waitangi weekend. We will be looking more indepth at Waitangi in class. Ask your parents if you can watch the news on Saturday and share with us next week what you remember.

Welcome to 2021. I hope you are all as super excited as me to get into our room and kick start our fun and learning for the year.

I am super excited about seeing all our friends back at school on Thursday. It's time to come back and continue our learning journeys together. So much to do, to learn, to teach, to share, to enjoy together.

Get ready to share your wonderful holiday antics, your fabulous whānau activities, your highs and your lows for the last 7 weeks.

I have had a great holiday but I am ready to start this next adventure with you and see all the amazing possibilities and achievements that we can create together.
