We closed school to break the chain of spread of Covid. Have you and your family had any life changing experiences with Covid virus this week/term?

We all had to stay home this week because of it!

How did you feel about having to stay home?

What changes did your family have to make during the week?

Eg:Thursday- Dear Diary,

It’s getting close to the end of the week and it has gone extremely fast. My family haven’t had any experiences with Covid yet. Yet it’s great to hear some people are only experiencing cold or flu-like symptoms and are recovering well and quickly.

Yesterday I began to….

Wha

How is reading your new ChapterBook going?

If you have read a whole book can you design and fill in your own template to Review your book to share with others.

-What was it about?

-Who were the characters in it?

-Where did it take place(setting?)

If you are still reading it, how about reviewing your favourite chapter in the book  so far?

Rima

Are you able to recall the missing numbers instantly?

Vice versa?  (1+9=10) 9 + ? =10

                     (11+9=20) 9 + ? =20

1 + ? = 10

11 + ? = 20

2 + ? = 10

12 + ? = 20

3 + ? = 10

13 + ? = 20

4 + ? = 10

14 + ? = 20

5 + ? = 10

15 + ? = 20

6 + ? = 10

16 + ? = 20

7 + ? = 10

17 + ? = 20

8 + ? = 10

18 + ? = 20

9 + ? = 10

19 + ? = 20

If you can recall the above instantly. Why not try to work on recall of  basic multiplication facts.  What ways can you try to remember them?

Add to your diary or record separately:

Describe 3 things you will do this week that demonstrate our FBS School values OR take a picture/draw a picture of you in action.

Eg: Yesterday was the beginning of me taking responsibility for cooking dinner each night this week as I get to stay at our peaceful home during the day and everyone else has to leave the house to go to work.  I’m practising our school values Manaakitanga, Atawhai and Mahi Ngatahi.  Luckily I don’t have to do the dirty dishes, Ake or Teidyn do them.

Another value I will be practising this week is…….

How many adjectives(describing words) can you use to describe nouns(names of things)?

Wha

Read a chapter or 2 of your new chapter book and enjoy it!

Some of us have forgotten our class karakia, scroll down further and practise them during the day.

Can you say the numbers aloud?  If not can someone at home help you say the large ones?

Draw a picture of your favourite character so far and record as many adjectives as you can describing him or her. How many can you come up with?

Wha

Like the Years 6 Homework book, can you draw an animal on a page and enlarge by a scale factor of 2, 3 or 4?

If you do not have grid paper to start with you may need to rule the squares yourself first, make sure they are equal in size.

-9am       Text Rm18 whanau
-9.15am  Hang out washing
-10am      Rm18 Google Meet

Start a diary to recount your week this week.  How can you make it sound really interesting for us, Rm18 your audience.  Remember lots of voice, sharing your feelings.

Eg: Dear Diary,

Well here we go again, yet thankfully this is only for a week and I'm actually really glad the school closed so that all of our FBS community who are dealing with Covid can get well and all others stay safe during the week .  I'm sure us all doing our bit this week will slow the spread.

This morning......
