Here are some random acts of kindness - how many can you do today and for the rest of this week? Being kind makes us and others feel good!

Tuesday 16 November

Here's a fun story to watch about kindness! While you are watching this video, think about all the ways you are kind to your friends at school and your whanau at home!

Blowing bubbles of kindness!

Today, let’s pretend that we are blowing bubbles of kindness! Draw a picture of yourself blowing bubbles up into the sky. Write one word inside each big bubble that means kindness to you!

When I think about kindness I use these words:

care, share, help, talk, hug, play, smile, love!

Here’s something special you could make for someone special in your bubble today! Go outside and pick some daisies - there is heaps of them around at the moment and make this lovely heart! Your someone special will LOVE your thoughtfulness!

Keep learning your words Puzzlers!!

These are the red words and are the next words we learn. Please help your child learn these words once they have learnt all the pink words.

Here are some ways to help you teach your children these simple words.

  1. Choose THREE words to learn at a time.

  2. Read the words together.

  3. Write the words with your child, saying each letter as you write it.

  4. Write the words on scrap paper. Cut out the letters and assist your child to put the word back together.

  5. Use magnetic letters to make the words IF you have some.

  6. Write the words outside on the concrete using chalk. Use different colours each time you write the word.

  7. Find the word in stories you read together.

  8. Play the Memory game using the words. Write the words on scrap paper - make sure you have two copies of each word. Turn them face down and take turns to find pairs of the same word. Say the word aloud when a pair is found.

  9. Use the same words on scrap paper as flashcards.

  10. Put one or two words into a sentence. Eg: I am looking for my Mum.

Wednesday 17 November

YAY!!! It's our first day back at school! Lovely to see some of our wonderful team Kakano back learning and playing together!! Here's some activities you can do at home today! Have fun!

Today, we are going to practise letter writing. Make sure you have some paper and pencil or a whiteboard and join me in writing letters together! Nice job!

Listen to this story. In the story today the family are going on a holiday. Where's a fun place you've been on holiday? Did you go to someone's house or to stay overnight?? I bet you had lots of fun!!

Here's my story about going on holiday. Can you write one too?

At the beach

I am going to the beach.

I am taking my two daughters Ruby and Brennah and my husband Glen.

I am taking a towel, some sunscreen and some sun glasses.

I will sit on the beach and swim in the water.
