29th April 2020

Fakaalofa atu!

Today I was able to speak to most of you over the phone and it was great to hear what you've been up to in the last couple of weeks.

It's fantastic to know that some of you received a Chromebook from School where you can spend some time doing Lexia activities. Some of you are using your own devices which is also awesome. I'm aware that some of you do not have a device at home - but that's ok! You can do the work your teacher has set up for you on your class page :)

I am very pleased to see two people working on Lexia and have achieved their weekly goals last week. Can you guess who they were?

CONGRATULATIONS to Thomas and Samuel!

Well done to you both! You will receive your gold cards and LEARNER cards when we start back at school.

Do let me know if you need help accessing Lexia at home.

18th April 2020

This is a message for students who are on the Lexia programme:

Hi, Lovelies!

I'm sure you can agree with me that the first week of Term 2 was different from what we are used to and yet exciting too! By now your amazing teachers have communicated with you via email, text or google meet. I hope you had a good catch up and with them :)

I too will make contact with you in the following week to see if you need support accessing Lexia in your devices (if you have one). However, if you don't have one at home, please don't worry about it. You can go to your class page and do the cool activities your teachers have set up for you and have fun with it!

I miss seeing your lovely and smiling faces! Take care of yourselves and be kind to others especially those in your bubble.

Mrs Togiatu

6th April 2020

Welcome!

I am pleased to say that Lexia® Core5® Reading is made accessible for the second year here at Flat Bush School. Lexia Core5 Reading is a fun computer-based programme that has helped many students across the country. The activities in Core5 support our classroom curriculum and focus on developing reading skills in six areas: phonological awareness, phonics, structural analysis, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

For students who are in the Lexia Core5 Reading programme, you can access this at home for extra practice.

1. To use on a computer, go to https://www.lexiacore5.com/

2. To use on an iPad, download the free Lexia Core5 Reading UK app from the App Store. (iPad support is limited to these devices: iPad 4+, iPad Mini 3+, iPad Air+, and iPad Pro.)

3. The first time your child uses Core5, you may need to enter my email: selau@flatbush.school.nz

4. Your child can then log in with the username and password used at school. Please email me (email address above) if your child has forgotten their username and/or password.

5. It is important that your child works without any help while using Core5. All of the work your child does at home is recorded and reported to me. This way, I can see when help is needed and provide additional instruction.

5. If you have a question about your child’s username or password, please contact me, via email.

Take care and I look forward to hearing from you.

Mrs Togiatu
